YOUTH TEAM LEADER – ST NIC'S, NOTTINGHAM 

Full-time (35 hours/week) | £32,430  per year plus 10% pension (pay award pending) 
12-month fixed-term contract, January–December 2027 

 

Are you passionate about seeing young people come to faith in Jesus? 

St Nic's is a lively, intercultural Anglican church in the heart of Nottingham city centre.  

The church is home to a wide range of people with different backgrounds, personalities and spiritual journeys, united in our love of Jesus and the city.  

We're looking for an enthusiastic Youth Team Leader to lead our youth ministry for 11–18 year olds – growing and evolving the work we already have, and reaching young people who have never set foot in church. 

The post is funded by the Diocese for 12 months, from January to December 2027, and is offered as a one-year fixed-term contract ending on 31 December 2027. During the year we will talk together about what youth provision should look like beyond 2027. 

 

What you’ll be doing 

You'll lead our youth ministry under the guidance of our Director of Ministry and the new Rector, supporting and growing a fab team of volunteers. In this role you will build on existing foundations, bringing fresh ideas and perspective. You'll help young people connect with Jesus and explore new ways to gather and reach those beyond the church.  

Your key responsibilities will include: 

  • Strengthening and developing the weekly worship and discipleship groups, and welcome new young people into them 

  • Building, training and encouraging a team of volunteers 

  • Being involved in shaping and leading services; All Age and evening services 

  • Collaborating with partner churches/organisations to do outreach and co-lead school discipleship groups 

  • Together with the Director of Ministry, co-create a youth strategy and report to the diocese termly with a Growing Disciples Plan 

  • Managing the youth budget and exploring funding opportunities 

  • Making sure our safeguarding policies are followed in everything we do 

  • Working as part of the wider St Nic’s staff team

Who we’re looking for 

You’ll be: 

  • A committed follower of Jesus with a faith that inspires young people 

  • Passionate about reaching young people who aren’t yet part of a church, and at home in youth culture 

  • A natural team builder who can inspire volunteers 

  • Experienced in working with young people, and in leading or developing others 

  • Willing to take risks, learn from mistakes and try new things 

  • The role involves leading worship, pastoral care, and delivering faith-based teaching. It is a Genuine Occupational Requirement that the holder be a practising Christian, as this is essential to the role’s nature and proportionate to achieving its aims.
