Student Minister and intern coordinator

Join us and thrive as we enter an exciting new chapter of mission and collaboration! We’re a fast-moving, vibrant, city-centre church community of all ages and many nationalities.

This new role, funded by the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham, will release our Rector to forge a new partnership between St Nic’s, St Christopher’s Sneinton, and St Stephen’s, Sneinton.

What you’ll do

  • After a period of induction, you’ll oversee the church’s mission and ministry, including its preaching, evangelism, and discipleship programmes.

  • You’ll gradually assume day-to-day oversight of St Nic’s, its excellent staff team (ordained and lay), lay leaders and volunteers.

  • You’ll work closely with the Rector in strategic leadership, and you will represent St Nic’s in the new partnership.

We’re looking for someone who…

  • Has substantial ordained ministry experience.

  • Has a collaborative and empowering style of ministry.

  • Has excellent communication skills (including preaching)

  • Is mission-oriented, generously evangelical, charismatic, kingdom-focused and committed to social justice.

  • Has a lively and robust spiritual life rooted in prayer and engagement with scripture.

  • Is committed to the diocesan vision and church growth

If this is you, we’d love to hear from you!

For informal enquiries, please contact Steve Silvester, Rector

We are looking for a creative Student Minister and Intern Coordinator who can champion our students and interns and oversee these key areas of ministry!

Throughout the years, St. Nic’s has been a significant spiritual home for many students past and present and has served as a training ground for emerging leaders in the church and community.

Our student ministry has fed directly into our internship programme, which is run in partnership with the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham’s Younger Leadership College and the Church of England’s Ministry Experience Scheme. Interns explore their callings in all areas of their lives as they work alongside the church staff to shape specific areas of ministry.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about developing future leaders and who will help lead students and interns into a new season of ministry.

30 hours per week

£24,390 (FTE £30,487)

Internships

Internship Opportunities Sept 2024 – July 2025

with St Nic’s Church and the Diocese of Nottingham and Southwell

Are you looking to invest a year in your apprenticeship to Jesus? Are you passionate about the church, discipling others and sharing the Gospel?

St Nic’s Church Nottingham are looking to appoint Interns for the coming academic year in partnership with the Diocese of Nottingham and Southwell. We are primarily recruiting for Intern positions at St Nic’s in:

Children’s Ministry

Communication, Media, and Youth Ministry

Discipleship, Evangelism, and International Ministry

Student Ministry

Youth Ministry

Worship Ministry

but we are flexible to adapt the roles according to the successful candidates’ personal giftings and passions.

On a day-to-day basis Interns will gain experience in church ministry and mission working alongside the Staff Team at St Nic’s, whilst also fully taking part in The Apprentice Track, a Diocesan programme for 18-30s. The Apprentice Track is all about taking seriously Jesus’ invitation to ‘follow me’ and seeking to adopt some of the key practices that Jesus modelled in his own life. This looks like committing to a way of life with prayer, scripture reading, sabbath and community at the heart of it.

Whilst participating in the Internship Programme, each intern has housing (incl. bills) provided and a subsistence allowance of £85 a week to cover living costs. For certain roles, a DBS check may be required.

To find out more and see how to apply, download our Information Pack or contact Tasha Genck Morton (Intern Coordinator and Curate) at tasha@stnics.org

Applications are open until places are filled, but we would love you to apply by the end of 6 May 2024.
