St Nic’s Staff Team
St Nic’s has 3 full or part-time staff – here’s a brief introduction to them:
Steve Silvester has
been Priest-in-Charge since January 2008. Prior to coming to St Nic’s he
was vicar of St Luke’s, Gamston and Bridgford, for 11 years. Steve is
married to Jane who teaches religious education in Clifton. They have
three daughters – Sarah-Jane, Beth and Amy. Steve retired from
playing squash recently but maintains sporting connections as chaplain to
Nottingham Forest Football Club, and has become a keen road cyclist. He is
currently on the DMin (Doctor of Ministry) course with King’s College
London.
Clare Whittaker grew up in
Stoke-on-Trent where she trained and worked as a paediatric nurse. In 1999
she took year out to do youth and children’s work with the Oasis Trust’s
Frontline programme. She was placed in a Baptist church in Woodley,
Reading and ended up staying for five years. During this time she
completed her Diploma in Children’s Evangelism and Nurture at Cliff
College and for the last three years has worked as the church’s children’s
worker. She enjoys socialising with friends and family, visiting new
places and listening to music.
David Duncan is our church administrator.
Juliet Wright and David Hobbs are our church wardens.
Ultimately the church council (PCC) has responsibility for the ministry and work of the church. Members of the PCC are elected each year at the church annual meeting. For the year 2009–2010 those members are: Chris Bignell, Adam Telling, Graham Bowpit, Charles Dods, Jan Wash, Jonathan Etheridge, Richard Hobbs, Roy McCloughry, Chris Nurden, and Susi Artis. The following members of the deanery synod also sit on St Nic’s PCC: Paul Evans and Julia Murphy. Finally, we have two members on the diocesan synod also on PCC: Rod Chapman and Ann Hart.
